Dan Dotzert, FSA

Dan has 20 years of employee benefit consulting experience providing advice to clients on health care strategy, financial management, plan design, health management, wellness/incentive programs, health analytics, vendor management, benefit administration, claim audits, retiree medical benefits, and compliance/health care reform issues. Dan has worked with multiemployer health funds with 100 to 100,000+ members/retirees. He also has experience working with organizations across a range of industries including pharmaceuticals, utilities, manufacturing, public sector, hospitals, financial services/insurance, consumer goods, medical devices, and homebuilding.

Prior to working at RAE Consulting, Dan led a large regional firm’s Data Analytics and Actuarial Services team while also leading consulting relationships with several clients. He provided oversight on development of intellectual capital, self-funded underwriting projections, employee contribution development, IBNR reserve calculations, actuarial value analysis, plan migration review, utilization/cost driver analysis, third-party administrator evaluation, insured renewal analysis, and stop loss marketings. Dan also worked at a multinational benefits/actuarial firm for over 10 years where he advised employers on the management of their health and welfare benefit programs.

Dan has served on the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Employer Advisory Council. He has presented on various topics at the Conference of Consulting Actuaries. Dan has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Actuarial Science from Temple University. He has also served as an alumni mentor to several Temple University students through the Gamma Iota Sigma mentorship program. Dan lives in Philadelphia where he likes to spend time visiting the city’s many restaurants, coffee shops, and bookstores.
